GeoDelft founded Delft GeoSystems BV as a subsidiary in 2002. As a knowledge institute, GeoDelft focuses on the development and distribution of knowledge in the field of geotechnical engineering.
Delft GeoSystems BV translates this knowledge into directly applicable products and launches them on the market. These products do not just include software, but also different types of services, as described below. The purpose of Delft GeoSystems is to be the bearer of GeoDelft’s total digital knowledge system, which combines specialist knowledge, calculation software, experiences, knowledge and soil data. The way this is given shape will lead to a diversity of products and services. In addition to geotechnical calculation programs with a support service and web projects for leasing software, work is also under way to develop support databases for online monitoring projects, experience databases for foundation techniques, databases for field and lab trials with visualisation tools through the internet, and the enhancement of this website. As a Major Technological Institute (in Dutch: GTI), it is GeoDelft’s mission to acquire, generate and propagate geotechnical knowledge. Since 1934, the institute has led the way internationally in studying behaviour in and with the soil (sand, clay and peat), construction in and with the soil, and the control of geo-ecological consequences.
Again and again, the characteristics of the soil form the main uncertainties and risks in construction and redevelopment projects. The control of those risks is the focus of GeoDelft’s activities. For all parties in the building sector, GeoDelft is therefore a partner in risk management.
