In these regions allot of interest exists in MPile, for 3D modeling of piles and pile groups. This of course is triggered by the enormous number of high rise buildings being constructed.

Dancing Towers Dubai

October 18, 2007

The Dancing Towers have been designed by the Iraqi female architect Zaha Hadid and should be finished in 2009. The three towers, each with their own purpose (hotel, offices, apartments) will be build in Dubai Business Bay. The foundation for the three towers is a pile raft foundation. Close to 500 bored piles will support the structure. The foundation plate will connect all three towers, making it a complex engineering job.

Complex projects require a sophisticated approach. To this end, MPile has been used to analyse the forces and settlements. The bored piles will have an approximate length of 45 meters.

MSheet Version 7.7 with EuroCode7

2 july, 2007

Since today, the new MSheet Version 7.7 is available from our  download. With this new release, it is possible to perform design  calculations and verification of designs according to the EuroCode7. The EuroCode7 allows for 3 different design Approaches (DA1, Da2 and DA3). The Netherlands has chosen for DA3. Since 2007, the EuroCode7 may be applied along with the local national design codes. As not all countries have an existing national design code, this opens

opportunities for MSheet users that are now able to perform design and checks according to the EuroCode7. In 2010 the "old" National design codes are no longer valid and the EuroCode7 will apply. Besides the EuroCode, numerous other improvements have been made in MSheet. You can read more about those improvements in the Release notes.

On June 1st, the new MFoundation Version 5.3 will be available from the download. Besides some minor improvements in the main program, a new module is available for the calculation of Bearing Piles (Belgian method). The new module is based on the Belgium recommendation by the EuroCode7 workgroup. At this moment the Belgium National Annex for Eurocode7, Part 1 is being finished.  The new MFoundation module supports tables containing "Belgium" soil and pile types, with appropriate factors.

Windows Vista

May 3, 2007
At this moment we do not support Windows Vista. We have, however, no reason to assume that Delft GeoSystems software will not function correctly under Windows Vista. We expect to run extensive tests on this during summer. Until that time people who wish to run Delft GeoSystems software under Windows Vista may need to update their hardlock driver. The Sentinel hardlock driver can be downloaded on our supplier’s web-site.

GeoDenver 2007

February 20, 2007
DelftGeoSystems and PLAXIS had a combined booth at the GeoDenver 2007 conference in the US. During the 3-day conference the software by Delft GeoSystems and Plaxis were on display and demonstration. It was good to see a growing interest in Dutch products for Geo-Engineering. No doubt the recent events in New Orleans have triggered this.  Besides PLAXIS who has been a player on the US market for a long time, interest in products like MStab for slope stability and MSeep for the analysis of Piping mechanisms is growing.

Delft GeoSystems also showed the "Levee Patroller", a 3D simulation environment. The realistic images triggered many people to come to our booth and have a demonstration.  Especially the Armey Corps of Engineers, who are well familiar in using simulation programs, seemed interested in this innovative solution to prevent disasters from happening.
